Ecuador promotes the Cocoa Origin Route

On March 15th, 2024, in cities like Quito, Loja, and Guayaquil, various stakeholders including entrepreneurs, archaeologists, tour guides, and chocolate producers gathered to strengthen the Cocoa Origin Route, a crucial project for Ecuador's international projection.

International experts led workshops where a study on the origin of cocoa and methodologies to develop this cultural route were presented. Local knowledge on cocoa production was shared, and traditional practices were discussed.

Other cultural routes are being promoted, such as the Florida-Tulipe Route and the Cultural Actions Route, which can contribute to heritage conservation.

These activities have allowed participants to better understand the importance and social impact of the route, as well as topics such as heritage, tourism, productivity, sustainability, and public policy.

Six workshops have been held in Ecuador, aimed at representatives of beneficiary entities such as the Ministry of Culture, the Secretariat of Culture of Quito, and the Heritage Institute. The initiative began in 2023 and will conclude with a Congress in Cáceres, Spain, where progress and results will be presented.

This joint effort demonstrates the institutions' commitment to Ecuador's cultural, touristic, and sustainable development. The Cocoa Origin Route represents a journey of discovery and connection, highlighting the richness and diversity of the country through each cocoa bean.
